Henry Lester was born in New York State in 1788 and came to the Burford area probably as a young boy with his family after the American Revolution.
Lester joined the Oxford Militia and served at Lundy’s Lane and Malcolm’s Mills.
Lester filed a settler’s land claim and was awarded £23, 18 shillings and 9 pence. He was also still alive in 1875 and appears on the pensioners list.
He died on 27 Mar 1876 and his family notified the American Government of his death as he was still an American citizen.
